They have been firmly in the lead all over the world since that time. Today’s hockey players need to sweat pretty much to restore their former glory.
Hockey is not only an exciting game, bright moments, uncompromising struggle, high speeds, it is also a serious business for its participants. The other day, a rating was published that included the best hockey players in the world, who this season became the highest paid hockey players in the world. Two Canadians shared the first line of this list: Vincent Lecavallier, who plays on the Tampa Bay Lightning team and is the center forward and Roberto Luongo, who is the goalkeeper of the Vancouver club.
Interestingly, Alexander Ovechkin, the holder of this title last year, was succeeded in shifting to the second position.

Vincent Lecavalier
From the Junior League in Quebec he got into an adult, on his account 86 goals in the last junior season. He became the fifth player in the history of QMJHL who was selected in the NHL draft with the first number. For his achievements, which he also received outside the hockey field, in Quebec he was respected. The best young athlete in the male province was named in 1998. In addition to this, his achievements can also include: a title obtained, in the opinion of the newcomer QMJHL of the year, a similar title, in the opinion of CHL, inclusion of QMJHL and CHL in the Stars.

The lessons that Lecavalier received at the international level in junior hockey, he successfully consolidated before the draft itself. He entered the gold Junior Team of Canada in 1997. At the 1998 World Championships in Finland among youth, just before the draft, Vincent in the form of a national team made one transfer in seven matches and scored one goal himself. Later, Lecavalier in 2001, being the captain of the NHL club, spent seven games at the World Cup as an adult, scored three goals, and twice assisted partners. And according to the results of seven meetings held, he scored five points.
The focus of Lecavallier was in 1998-1999, which was his debut. Most analysts agreed – the future superstar of the League appeared in the Lightning.

Roberto Luongo
A participant in various tournaments, a holder of a considerable number of awards, a true professional, the Canadian NHL hockey player known throughout the world. Goalkeeper, you can say this is his role. Roberto is currently the team captain.

Roberto Luongo was born in 1979 in Montreal in the family of an Italian immigrant. Roberto began to actively engage in hockey when he was eight years old. In various forms, Luongo played for a long time, until he began his career as a goalkeeper. In their family, by the way, there is more than one hockey goalkeeper – the Roberto brothers are also goalkeepers.
In the 1995-1996 season, Roberto began his own career – in the junior squad of QMJHL. He managed to prove himself the best – six victories were left behind him. Later, there were much more victories, and the work was appreciated, he was awarded the Mike Bossy Trophy. Roberto’s sports career was rapidly going up over the following time.
Luongo played for New York Islanders later, and also played in many other teams. Specialists noticed his talent, and this is not surprising. Soon he was sent an invitation to the NHL.

Alexander Ovechkin
In the amount of $ 124 million, Alexander Ovechkin signed a thirteen-year contract with Washington in 2008. Thus, he became the first hockey player to enter into a contract worth more than one hundred million.

A professional Russian hockey player, the Washington Capitals NHL club is a left hitter. In the Super League, Ovechkin previously played for the Moscow Dynamo. Alexander spent four seasons in an American club and is now a captain in it. In 2004, he was drafted, becoming the second Russian hockey player, after Kovalchuk, who was chosen under the general first number.

In the 2005-2006 season, Alexander made his debut in the NHL, receiving the Calder Trophy in the first season, beating Sydney Crosby in the general vote. Also in 2008, Ovechkin was awarded the “Art Ross Trophy” and twice “Maurice Richard Trophy”, “Chaot Trophy”, “Leicester Pearson Avard”. In the All-Star Game, the Russian participated three times. One of the few players who score more than fifty goals and gain more than a hundred points in a season is Alexander. In 2009, he became one of the ten best players of the decade in the NHL.
