One of the most beautiful sports that are included in the program of the Olympic Games is figure skating. In addition to a wide variety of sports in various disciplines of figure skating, there are a lot of show programs in which the best skaters of the world take part.
One of the most popular types in sports, which is distinguished by expressive movements and high emotionality, is figure skating.
The best skaters of the world in this sport, through titanic efforts, achieve continuous improvement of their skills. Figure skating is a public sport. They begin to deal with it even in preschool age. Figure skating, like most sports, affects the increase in functions in the vestibular apparatus, improves the state of the circulatory and respiratory organs. Pair skating, women and men single skating, as well as ice dancing, these are the types that are included in world championships. A free program, compulsory exercises and a short free program are performed without fail.
This year Moscow hosted the 2011 World Figure Skating Championships, which was attended by the best skaters of the world. Unfortunately, the Russians didn’t manage to climb the highest level, it remains to be content with bronze and silver medals.
The first medal of the Russian World Championship in Moscow was brought by seventeen-year-old skater Arthur Gachinsky. Third place was taken by the ward of Alexei Mishin, after the champion from Canada Patrick Chan.

Patrick Chan
Chinese-born Canadian is 2011 World Champion Patrick Chan. Weijang is his Chinese traditional name. Louis, Patrick’s father, immigrated from Hong Kong to Canada when he was a child, and Karen, his mother, also moved from Hong Kong when she was 20 years old. He studied at a French-speaking school and thus he speaks Chinese, French and English.
At the age of five, he began to skate.
In 2004, in Canada, he won the championship among children, and this was his first great success. At the Canadian Junior Championships, he became the winner in 2005, and this gave him the right to perform among juniors at the World Championships, where he finished seventh. He was the youngest among the athletes in this tournament.
At the Junior Grand Prix, Chan made his debut in 2005-2006. At the stage in Montreal, he won the gold medal and at the stage in Slovakia became the fourth. Thus, he was able to qualify for the finals of the Junior Grand Prix and take fifth place there. At the adult championship of Canada, he performed in the same year and became the seventh. Among juniors at the world championship was the sixth.
In the “adult” series of the Grand Prix, Patrick decided to try his hand in the 2006-2007 season, despite the fact that he was allowed to age as a junior. He was fifth at the Trophee Eric Bompard stage and seventh at the NHK Trophy.
In Halifax, in the 2007 Canadian Championship, Chan became fifth. This allowed him to go for the third time to the world championship, which is held among juniors, he won a silver medal on it and became the first Canadian single to win the medal of this tournament since 1984.
Patrick is currently training with Don Laus in Florida and Ellen Burke in Toronto.

Arthur Gachinsky
The Russian skater who performs in solo skating is a bronze medalist at the 2011 World Cup. In 2009, among juniors at the Russian Championship, he became a silver medalist, and among juniors in the Grand Prix series he is a two-time finalist.
Until the age of six, Arthur skated, and switched to figure skating a little later. When Arthur was nine years old, his family moved to St. Petersburg from Moscow. He is coached by Alexei Mishin.
In 2006, at the debut championship among juniors in Russia, he became a bronze medalist. In the “adult” championship of Russia, the thirteen-year-old Arthur was allowed to participate in the Russian Figure Skating Federation in 2007. It was at that time an unprecedented decision, so young athletes had not previously played in the championships of Russia. Of the eighteen participants, Arthur became the fourteenth.
He got into the final of the Junior Grand Prix in 2007-2008, where he took the last eighth place. The ninth was at the championship of Russia.
In the final, the Grand Prix was again the eighth in 2008-2009. He became the tenth in the championship of Russia, and won a silver medal in the junior championship of the country. In 2009, he was declared as a junior participant in the World Cup, but due to a cold he was forced to withdraw the day before the tournament.

Takahiko Kozuka
Performs in solitary male figure skating. In 2006, he became a world champion among juniors.
At the age of five, he began to skate. Tsuguhiko Kodzuka, his father, was a lone skater in the past and represented Japan at the Winter Olympics in 1968, his mother Takahiko is also a skater who performed ice dancing.
